Packing the Backpacks

Packing the Backpacks

Materials Needed:

Large piece of construction paper (one per child)
Lots of pictures of items you would take camping that would fit in a backpack. (i.e. Clothing, insect repellant, sunscreen, binoculars, etc.)
Glue
Scissors
Markers

What To Do:

Cut out lots of camping items from magazines/catalogs.
Fold construction paper into thirds. (*see example)
On the outside flap of the backpack, write the child's name and the word "backpack".
Open the flaps back up. Have the children glue pictures inside the backpack, of items they would like to take camping with them.
After they finish, ask them: "What other bigger items do you think you would need to take camping? What would you like to do on your camping trip?"
